My journey into ham radio started during the early 1970’s with my first Elmer Dr. James Millard W8PRY(SK). Thanks to him, I briefly had my novice ticket and had one cw contact in my log before my family moved to another town and I no longer had access to my Elmer. During the late 1980’s I had rekindled the interest thanks to the help of a fine young ham KE8WC, but once again life’s circumstances got in the way.

Fast forward 30 years and after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in computer science in 2016, I decided it was time to get my ticket. So I spent my spare time that summer studying Gordon West’s Technician and General books and while attending HamCation in 2017 I passed both the Tech and General exams and was assigned KN4BFG in late February. I upgraded to Extra in November 2021.

I am a Volunteer Examiner with the Laurel VEC and the ARRL VE Teams.

I am involved with ARES and am the Emergency Coordinator for Perry County, Mississippi.

I currently reside in the thriving metropolis of Richton, Mississippi and work in an IT/OT capacity for a paper mill nearby.
